The Pew Internet & American Life Project has again released a fascinating study of Internet behavior across multiple generations.
The report notably highlights the growth of social networking, video, news and classifieds consumption online. And, still reigning supreme, are the twin staples of online marketing – search engines and e-mail.
The dominance of search e-mail may not come as a surprise to most online marketers. Search is the primary online customer acquisition channel and e-mail’s permission-based marketing continues to benefit marketers who can reach their customers’ inboxes.
The following Pew chart illustrates the impressive dominance of search and e-mail across all generations. It underscores the importance of still making search engine marketing and e-mail marketing campaigns an integral part of your online advertising efforts.
The rapid rising social networking and online video trends are also key areas of focus, especially for Millennials. We’ll be dedicating future posts about this study to the rise of social networking and online video consumption.
