Question

What Are Obstacles to a Successful Digital Transformation?

Answered by

A clear vision is never established.

“A digital transformation can’t begin until a burning platform and vision have been declared from the highest stakeholder in an organization. Otherwise it will never take hold. Once the burning platform has been established the remaining obstacles can be overcome with careful change management.”

Systems aren’t built for the people they should be helping.

“Change is hard. And technological change is even harder. The training programs and current skills of individual employees, departments, and entire organizations must be assessed so that the new systems are designed for them; not around them.”

Often, systems are built in a static and not evolutionary states.

“Systems must evolve to meet the demands of changing markets. Too many organizations fight systems change to protect an archaic system that everyone dislikes, but do so because they are victims of the sunk cost fallacy.”
